Sixth Annual Bed-Stuy Pride Festival This Month Will Feature Local Artists, Workshops, and Performances

It all goes down August 28 in Herbert Von King Park.

Bed-Stuy's rich history of LGBTQ people of color finally has a whole day dedicated to it.

The sixth annual Bed-Stuy Pride event to celebrate lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, and gender non-conforming people of color living in Bed-Stuy and the Central Brooklyn community happens August 28 this year.

Hopefully the heatwave will have died down a bit by then.

"The day will feature local artists, performances, workshops, music, vendors, family friendly wellness & fitness activities and more!" the Facebook event description says.

It's run by the Safe OUTside the System (SOS) Collective, an anti-violence program for LGBTQ people of color. There are more than 250 people slated to go on Facebook. In the past, the event has featured spoken word performances, meditation and art workshops, and dance parties featuring DJs.
