The Family First Dynamic
Individuals should set aside time in their busy schedules to giggle and let their hair down

By Karen St. Hilaire
Take the time to adopt the family-first dynamic.
Often times our schedules dictate a not-so-inclusive timeline for family fun: You have meetings, school commitments and extracurricular activities taking up your time.
Although some of these activities are done as a family unit, the environment or circumstance doesn't always allow you to enjoy it as such. The family fun dynamic should allow everyone to be free without limits.
Individuals should set aside time in their busy schedules to giggle-- yes, giggle-- and let their hair down. Go to that restaurant and order the cheat meal that brings joy and talk about nothing. Here's why you should allow the family fun dynamic into your family regiment every couple of months:
1. Kids get to experience parents being silly in public and learn it can be done.
2. Family converse about idle things which may be adolescent and at the same time learn the quirks about certain family members.
3. Couples share their authentic silly side without caution. This enhances the dialogue that allows individuals in the family to learn a lot about each other.
I personally know folk in the same household who are unable to tell you their sibling, spouse or mates favorite color, foods or silly attribute. This weekend for my mom's birthday, my family ventured to a restaurant and all guards were down.
The conversation was about anything that anyone threw out. No adults discussed work or issues because it was family fun day. Don't reserve this for holiday get together, be spontaneous, carefree and have fun.
