Two Injured in Early Sunday Morning Fire on Gates Avenue

Fire officials are investigating the cause of an early Sunday morning fire on Gates Avenue between Lewis Avenue and Malcolm X Boulevard.

According to investigators, 12 units and 60 firefighters were called to 841 Gates Avenue at around 1:00 a.m. regarding a mysterious fire that started on the second floor of a five-story residential building.

The fire was brought under control at around 1:20 a.m. Two civilians were injured; one with serious injuries, and they both were taken to Woodhull Hospital were they were treated.
