BEDFORD-STUYVESANT, BROOKLYN — A Bed-Stuy subway thief lunged at a random straphanger, put him in a chokehold and stole the cash from his pockets, video shows.

The subway mugger suddenly punched a 48-year-old man in the face inside the Utica Avenue A and C train station on Fulton Street just after 6 p.m. Friday, police said.

Video shows he then wrapped his arm around the man's neck and forced him to the ground as stunned straphangers watched and filmed, according to police.

He then grabbed $200 that fell out of the man's pocket and ran out of the station, police said.

Police describe their suspect as a man in his early 20s, standing about 5-foot 6-inches tall, weighing about 160 pounds and las seen wearing a black t-shirt and jeans.
