WATCH: Manhole Explodes in Brooklyn

On Monday night, the same night that a power line burst into flames in Bushwick, at least one manhole exploded in Prospect-Lefferts Gardens, reports the local news site crownheights.info.

Con-Ed and city officials had been warning Brooklyn residents all day to go easy on their air conditioners, lest the power grid go berserk.

But despite everyone’s best efforts, scattered blackouts hit Brooklyn by that evening.

And in the Crown Heights area, reports crownheights.info, “Reports of explosions from underground manholes came in from around the neighborhood, with many blocks losing power overnight.”
