Young Child Killed, Teen Driver Arrested In Bed-Stuy Crash: NYPD
A 4-year-old died weeks after a teenage driver crashed into a pillar in Brooklyn, police said.

BED-STUY, NY — A 4-year-old was killed and another injured after a teenage driver crashed a pickup truck in Bed-Stuy, police said Thursday.
Giovanni Quiles, 4, died on Tuesday, weeks after a 16-year-old driver crashed a pickup truck into a pillar for an elevated subway train, landing Quiles and an 11-year-old child in the hospital, police said.
The teenage driver was arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child, driving without a license and having either alcohol or marijuana in the car related to the Nov. 7, according to the NYPD.

Police said the 16-year-old was driving a 2023 GMC Sierra 3500 pick-up truck eastbound on Atlantic Avenue near Brooklyn Avenue about 5 p.m. when he crashed into the pillar.
All three kids in the car were rushed to area hospitals, but the older two were in stable condition. Quiles was later transferred to Maimonides Medical Center, where he died weeks later.

Authorities continued to investigate the crash Thursday.
