1. Back to school

Today's the first day of school in Bedford Central Schools and tomorrow is Katonah Lewisboro's first day.

2. UPDATED: Canine Commons will be closed today for re-paving

Due to Tuesday's forecasted rains, the paving has been rescheduled until Thursday and will re-open Friday morning at 8 a.m..

Your pooch will need to play in another park today— is closed Tues. Sept. 4 for re-paving of the roadway and the parking lot. It will re-open at 8 a.m. on Wednesday.

3. Bedford's fall/winter brochure is out

With your favorite town sponsored events from pumpkin-carving to Breakfast with Frosty, the town of Bedford's recreation and parks office has created a fun-filled fall schedule of events and classes. Click here to access the brochure, now posted online.

4. Town meets, hears energy financing plans

The town board has a brief meeting Tuesday night, with few items on the agenda.The meeting is preceded by a public hearing on a potential new local law on a financing program through which property owners might finance energy-saving improvements. We'll bring you the details on Patch.

5. Rainy day ahead

Standing at the bus stop today may not be pleasant. The chance of showers, and a thunderstorm, is 80 percent, according to the National Weather Service. Tuesday night brings more showers, with a low around 68. We could get up to 2-3 inches of rain before Wednesday morning. The rain could continue through Wednesday at noon. Break out the new galoshes!
