Bedford Hills Man Charged with DWI

A Bedford Hills man faces drunk driving charges after police found him sleeping inside his car on West Patent Road.
Officers on patrol approached his car at about 11:55 p.m. on Nov. 26. The radio was playing loudly and the windows were open, police said. The driver, Jose Morales, 43, appeared to be unconscious.
Police also said there was an odor of alcohol inside the car. After they woke Morales, police administered field sobriety tests, which they said he failed. He was taken to police headquarters for processing where he took a breath test, revealing a .17 BAC, more than twice the legal limit.

Morales was charged with DWI, DWI over .08 BAC. He was released on $200 bail pending a future court date.

A Connecticut resident faces charges in Bedford after a stop by police on McLain Street.
Officers conducted a traffic stop for a car with no front license plate near Barker Street on Nov. 25. They identified the driver as Gerardo Umana, 49, of Greenwich, CT.
After checking his license through their computer, police discovered Umana had failed to pay child support, had a suspended license and an expired license.
Umana was arrested and charged with third degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a car, operating a car by an unlicensed driver, operating an unregistered motor vehicle on the highway and driving with expired insurance. His car was towed and he was released on $100 bail pending a return to town court.
