Bedford, Lewisboro Lift State of Emergency

The state of emergency in the town of Bedford was deemed "no longer necessary" by Supervisor Lee Roberts and was officially lifted on Thursday afternoon.

Lewisboro Supervisor Peter Parsons also sent an email notification lifting that town's emergency state.

The emergency status restricted non-necessary travel. Both towns had them in place since Oct. 29.

Officials reminded locals that if their power was not yet restored, residents should call their utility company (NYSEG at 800-572-1131 or Con Edison at 800-752-6633.)

In addition, locals who need overnight shelter may call United Way's 2-1-1 Helpline, a non-emergency information and referral service. Hours are 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., seven days a week.

Residents seeking additional help and disaster recovery information can now visit a multi-purpose Hurricane recovery center opening Thursday afternoon at the Westchester County Center in White Plains.

Officials from Consolidated Edison, FEMA and social service organizations will be available at the center 7 days a week to answer questions about recovery efforts following Hurricane Sandy and Wednesday night's nor'easter.
