Bedford Man Collects $1M Scratch-Off Prize: The IRS Took A Big Chunk

The VIP Millions scratch-off game winner, who bought his ticket in Mount Kisco, chose a one-time lump sum payment.

BEDFORD, NY —A Westchester County man has claimed his $1,000,000 scratch-off prize, but he's not taking home anywhere near a million dollars.

Rene Sandoval Guzman of Bedford Hills has claimed a $1,000,000 top prize in the New York Lottery's VIP Millions scratch-off game. Sandoval Guzman received a one-time lump sum payment totaling $591,000, after required tax withholdings.

The ticket was purchased at Henry’s Delicatessen located on Lexington Ave. in Mount Kisco.

New York’s scratch-off games generated $4,406,338,198 in total sales during fiscal year 2022-2023. School districts across Westchester County received $154,983,517 in Lottery Aid to Education funds during the same period.
