Bedford police called Westchester police and New York State troopers for backup. They did not find a suspect but police said "it was clear someone had been there." Police said homes under construction—especially those that are vacant during the renovation process—are sometimes the target of thieves looking to steal and sell copper. Police would not comment further, citing the active investigation.
The car was seized and is also being investigated.
Sentimental Jewelry Stolen From Home
On Aug. 24 around 5:30 p.m., police were called to a home on Upper Hook Road in Katonah. The homeowner discovered his house was broken into through a screen window. The resident reported that costume jewelry belonging to his late wife was stolen from the property.
Couple Fight Leads to Harassment Charge
On Aug. 24 at 4:33 p.m. a 23-year-old Long Island woman, who was visiting her boyfriend at his residence on Pines Bridge Road in Bedford Hills, reported that her boyfriend, 25, pushed her after an argument ensued between the two.
Police took a deposition from the victim, and forwarded the information to town court; the man will likely be issued a criminal summons, police say. The man was charged with harassment in the second degree.
