Bedford Sportsman Owner Purchases Cross River Bait & Tackle

Charles George now oversees two fishing supply shops.

Charles George isn't resting on his laurels.

After recently as a mecca for fisherman looking for supplies and information for a variety of expeditions, George, 42, of Vista, bought Cross River Bait & Tackle at 759 Route 35, according to a recent report in the Lewisboro Ledger. 

Stocked with an array of rods and reels, boots, waders, boats, oars and fanny packs, the new store also has freshwater and saltwater charters for interested anglers, according to the story.

Like , which George bought in 2005 when it's founder and owner Harry Whitman retired, the Cross River shop offers free fishing programs. The new hours are 6 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday. For more information, call the shop directly at (914) 763-6083.
