1. Bedford wins county recycling award
In the category of "Partnerships of Municipalities and Local Conservation Groups," the town of Bedford with its Bedford 2020 Waste & Recycling Committee won for its program. Bedford was the first municipality after Irvington to launch its own local leaf mulching campaign, called Leave Leaves Alone. In 2011, 40 landscapers went through trainings organized by Leave Leaves Alone.

Roughly two months , Mount Kisco's 115 E. Main St. has a new tenant. A village building permit has been issued and posted by 692 Pet Supply, Inc. The arrival of another pet services place comes as the industry is getting more crowded. For more on that, of the competing pet supply shops on Route 117 and south.
3. College Night May 1

Representatives from more than 220 colleges, universities, technical programs and financial institutions will be on hand May 1 at to answer questions from parents and students. The event is hosted by the Putnam Northern Westchester Board of Cooperative Educational Services.
4. Bedford dog group to meet
Are you a user of Canine Commons? The Bedford D.O.G. group is having an informational meeting tonight to discuss possible upgrades to the park. about the group and the meeting, which starts at 7:30 p.m. at the Katonah Restaurant.
5. Open houses at local schools -
The Jewish Family Congregation is holding an open house for its religious school in South Salem. A one day "mini-religious school" expereience for all children entering kindergarten in the Fall of 2012 on Thursday, April 19th.
And the Rippowam Cisqua Upper Campus is hosting an open house for grades 5 - 9. Meet the administration, attend a student/faculty panel, go on a tour, meet current parents. .
