Join local this evening of information and discussion on hydraulic fracturing (fracking), the controversial natural gas drilling technology. The evening is sponsored by a consortium of local churches and Bedford 2020. There will be a panel discussion, presentations, and musical guests. Local groups will be available to present information and suggest ways to get involved. All are welcome, regardless of religious affiliation. And—free childcare and ample free parking!

Alexandra F. Morris was named to the President's List at SUNY Potsdam for the Spring 2011 semester. Alexandra is a 2008 John Jay High School graduate and South Salem resident. This is her sixth consecutive semester on the President's List, say her proud parents, Ann-Marie and Jeffrey Morris. In November 2010 she was admitted to the Presidential Scholars Program at SUNY Potsdam, where she is majoring in Anthropology, Archeology and Art History.

5. Open gym nights for teens
Teens can beat the summer doldrums as they socialize, work on athletic skills and stay physically active, all in air-conditioned comfort, during Open Gym nights during July at the Westchester County Center in White Plains. They can shoot hoops, play chess, cards or other board games. Or they can compete in traditional recreational activities like foosball, Noc hockey and ping pong. Participants will be supervised by adult staff of the County Parks Department. Admission and parking at the County Center lot are free for these events. Open Gym will run Mondays through Fridays, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., from Tuesday, July 5, through Friday, July 29. For more info, go to www.countycenter.biz or call (914) 995-4050.
