Dispute at Vet Center Leads to Arrest

A West Harrison man was arrested after he broke a vase and damaged a plant at the Katonah Bedford Veterinary Center because he was dissatisfied with the service he received.

Peter Ronai, 46, picked up his dog from KBVC and sought treatment at another veterinary location. He allegedly could not get his pet's animal records as quickly as he needed them via phone, and returned to the center to pick them up. The center reporte to police there was a verbal disagreement followed by Ronai knocking a vase valued at $100 to the floor.

Ronai was charged with fourth degree criminal mischief with intent to damage property. He was released pending an appearance in town court.

Bedford youth charged with marijuana posession

Bedford police observed a car driving 59 miles per hour in a 40 mph zone on Bedford Center Road. After pulling over the driver, an 18-year-old Bedford youth, police detected the smell of marijuana coming from the car.

The driver stepped out of the car, and police noticed a bulge in the youth's pants pocket. They asked him to empty his pockets which revealed five small bags of marijuana. The youth was charged with possession and speeding and was released pending a May 3 court appearance.

Katonah man charged with DWI

Brian Cernik, 38, of Katonah, was arrested on April 20 at 3:44 a.m. after police observed him driving across the hazard markings while driving north on Bedford Road. Cernik turned onto Cherry Street without signaling and then proceeded to cross over the lines several times.

After pulling Cernik over at the intersection of Cherry Street and Harris Road, police detected a strong smell of alcohol and noticed the Cernik's slurred speech.

Cernik failed field sobriety tests and a breathalyzer test at police headquarters revealed a BAC of .16, twice the legal limit. He was charged with DWI and DWI over .08 BAC and released pending a return to town court.
