Updated, 7:45 p.m.

Power outages have increased in number—over 3,000 customers in Bedford and its three hamlets are currently without power. There are currently no restoration times available through the NYSEG outage map.

Bedford police said as of 7:45 p.m. the lights at the intersection of I-684 and Route 35 are still not running due to power outages.

There are no other major roads closed outside of Woodsbridge and North Salem Road, police said. Residents are still advised to proceed with caution as there are many branches littering local roads.

First story:

Though most of the weather-related debris reported to Bedford's Department of Public Works this afternoon has been cleared, two roads remained closed and could remain that way through the evening, say town officials.

The town's highway crews cleared all that they could but on Woodsbridge Road and on North Salem road downed utility poles, transformers and wires are preventing further cleanup.

"Now we have to wait for NYSEG to clear wires," said Kevin Winn, commissioner of public works, adding that residents should steer clear of live wires.

Barricades have been set up closing Woodsbridge between Route 35 and Park Place and North Salem Road between Route 35 and Mt. Holly Road.

In addition, all traffic light are out along Rt 35 at intersections with I-684 and Rt. 22 and all residents should proceed with caution.

In addition to the closed roads, over 200 residents are experiencing the inconvenience of a power outage. NYSEG reports the following outages in the area:
