Enchantments Brings Well-Priced Style
Enchantments is the new women's clothing store on Katonah Avenue.
There's a new, intimate boutique in town that has stylish finds.
Enchantments has opened at 85 Katonah Avenue, selling ladies' clothes, accessories and jewelry.
Owner Melanie Shepard opened the store two months ago at when she learned that the site was going to be empty, following the close of Parker East. She had not been considering opening a clothing store when she heard about the vacancy. "It fell in my lap," she said.

"It was a great opportunity," she said, "and so far, it's proven me right."
Business has been good so far, Shepard noted. "I am thrilled." She has gotten positive feedback from her customers on the lines of clothing that she carries and on her pricing. "I try to be reasonably priced," she said.

Enchantments carries several lines of clothing, including Lilla P, Samuel Dong, and Tyler Boe. "I don't carry anything you would see in a department store," said Shepard.
Many of the clothing items are casual, but several are suitable for dressier events or for even more formal occasions. The black Samuel Dong bolero jacket with fabric roses on its short sleeves could be worn on top a sheath dress for an evening out. Several Lilla P tops in summer colors, arranged on edge of the front window, can be worn casually or dressed up with a scarf or jewelry. Enchantments also sells jewelry and scarves.
Sizes run from extra-small to extra-large depending on the clothing line, Shepard said. Several mesh cardigans and dusters by Van Klee were in one size fits all.
Shepard has worked in apparel shops in the Ridgefield, CT, area. She used to own Lavender and Sage, an inspirational gift shop, in Ridgefield.
Several stores have opened in Katonah since the beginning of the year, including a vintage clothing store and a men's clothing store, reversing the trend of multiple empty storefronts that lined the town's main street last year.
