Bedford Historical Society Treasure Hunt

The Bedford Historical Society will once again hold its Treasure Hunt, a family-minded activity day centered around the historical buildings and landmarks on the Village Green. From 11am to 3pm, adults will enjoy the architectural walking tour of ten buildings and landmarks, while children will delight in the treasures they earn for solving a riddle at each stop along the tour.  Learn more about the history and purpose of each building.  Stop by Historical Hall to meet a costumed Leatherman re-enactor and discover his links to the Bedford community. Visitors will be able to peek into Historical Hall for a look at artifacts discovered during the ongoing renovation.  Children can take advantage of a rare opportunity to make noise at the Bedford Free Library by climbing the stairs to ring the school bell.  Revolutionary re-enactors will bring colonial times to life on the Village Green as they teach children about the life of a revolutionary soldier and engage children in wooden musket drills.  Colonial games, pony rides, and musicians will add to the festivities.  A $10 registration fee for each participating child includes a map, children's colonial hat, and a Treasure Hunt bag to hold the treasures collected at each site.   No registration fee for Historical Society members.   Register and start the tour at the white tent on the Village Green.  In case of rain, event will be held Sunday, September 12th.   For further information, visit the Bedford Historical Society -- 612 Old Post Rd.  Bedford,  NY or contact them at 914 234-9751 www.bedfordhistoricalsociety.org.
