Fireworks Displays the Next Two Days

Plus, the town board meets at 8 p.m., preceded by two public hearings.

1. Where you can see fireworks Tuesday and Wednesday

The Caramoor 'Pops, Patriots and Fireworks' concert and show is sold out but they are taking names for the wait list. for contact information. There are plenty of other local options including tonight's display at the Kensico Dam Plaza Music Fest, where pre-concert entertainment begins at 6 p.m. and The Bensen-Scott Big Band takes the stage at 8 p.m. Fireworks will follow at approximately 9:15 p.m. at the in Valhalla. On Wednesday, riverfront shows take place in Dobbs Ferry and Peeskill.

3. Town Board meets tonight, town offices closes tomorrow

Tonight's town board meeting is preceded by two public hearings; the first discusses expanding the counties of residence for police officers to include Ulster County, and the second will address sewage rates for Bedford Lakes residents.

The town is also expected to approve a minor change in the water filtration plant (click here for info on when it's coming online); work related to curb and sidewalk repair on Greenville Road; approve repairs to take place at Chichester Cemetary on Old Corner Road in Bedford Village and, approve Sept. 22 as the date for the 9th Annual PKD Walk, and Nov. 24 as the 8th Annual Bedford Turkey Trot.

4. Photo contests!

The s 3rd Annual Photography Contest for Teens is underway! They're looking for  photographers ages 10 to 18 to shoot "what is your vision of summer?" Send your favorite photograph of what summer means to you and you may win a prize. There will be two winners – one for ages 10 to 13 and the second for ages 14 to 18. Patch is also running a summer photo contest,

5. Registration Open for Westmoreland Orienteering event, volunteers needed

According to the Westmoreland Sanctuary's website, on Sun, July 22 from 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. is "RAID THE SANCTUARY," the first ever orienteering competition hosted by Hudson Valley Orienteering and Westmoreland Sanctuary:

This event is an adventure run that incorporates orienteering and other elements to complete.  This event is geared toward experienced competitors.  Those with limited experience are welcome to participate if they complete the orienteering clinic on July 21st.  Beginners should look to our next event on September 30th, which will be for all levels and have greater instruction.  More information will be available soon. Pre-registration is required by July 19th.
