Generator Stolen from Telephone Pole

A generator that was mounted on a telephone pole on McLain Street in Bedford was stolen, police said.

The Honda portable generator, valued at $2,700, provided power to the emergency command center at the Bedford Hills Fire Department. Around 10:40 p.m. on Nov. 5, police said, officials working at the command center noticed the internet had gone down. Thinking the generator needed refueling, fire department representatives drove to the site and discovered the generator was gone.

The generator had been installed by workers in a bucket truck, police said. The incident is still under investigation.

Purdys man charged with grand larceny

A Purdys resident was arrested and charged with fourth degree grand larceny after police identified him as a suspect in a residential theft in Katonah.

Erik Gins, 22, was accused of theft by a Katonah homeowner who had a party on Oct. 15 at his house. Following the party, the host noticed several items missing from his home including an iPad, credit cards and cash.

Police interviewed the homeowner and after their investigation, identified Gins as a suspect and obtained a warrant for his arrest.

On Nov. 6, police officers responded to a report of youths drinking at the Bedord Mews apartment complex and after they arrived, located Gins on the scene. He was placed into custody and arraigned by Judge Dinin. Bail was set at $2,500. Gins was scheduled to return to town court this week.
