Handbag Lost in Chappaqua Recovered in Bedford by Way of Yorktown

Here's a roundup of recent selected police activity in the town of Bedford.

A Cortlandt Manor woman allegedly had her purse stolen out of her car when she was shopping in a plaza in Chappaqua last week. The bag had $1,000 cash it at the time, she said when she reported the incident to New Castle police. 

On April 30 her bag was recovered by the Bedford Police. But it wasn't found in the town of Bedford.

An employee of Gianfranco's Pizza in Bedford Hills found the bag after he pulled over on Route 202 in Yorktown to fix a flat tire on his car. The pizzeria employee  reported the found property to Bedford police, said Police Lieutenant Jeffrey Dickan.

"So we had a bag allegedly stolen in Chappaqua, dumped in Yorktown and recovered in Bedford," said Dickan. The money was not recovered along with the bag.

Brookfield man charged with speeding and unlicensed operation

Adam Keller, 24, of Brookfield, CT was arrested on April 29 by Bedford police and charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a car and speeding in his 2004 Mitsubishi Eclipse. Keller was stopped for allegedly driving 64 miles-per-hour in a 40 mph zone on Route 35, east of I-684. A computer check showed that Keller's driving privileges were suspended in New York for a failure to answer a summons. He was released on $100 bail pending an appearance in Bedford town court. 

Mt. Kisco man arrested in harassment case

Colum Francis Boylan, 47, of  Mt. Kisco was arrested by Bedford police on May 2 for second-degree harassment with a threat to physical contact. The arrest resulted from an April 26 incident that occurred between him and his wife at the Fox Lane High School campus when his wife alleged that he confronted and harassed her after she dropped off their daughter at school. Boylan was issued a criminal summons and is scheduled to appear in town court.

Graffiti cases piling up

Another criminial mischief incident occurred on May 1 on Guard Hill Road and May 2 on McLain Street in Bedford Hills, say Bedford police. The department's investigation is ongoing. 

Earrings valued at $980 missing

The owners of Jaymark Jewelers reported that a pair of earrings valued at close to a thousand dollars were removed from a display case between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. on April 29. The case is being investigated by detective division.

Depot Plaza stone wall damaged

A Bedford police officer discovered damage to the decorative stone walls in Depot Plaza on April 29. The cost of repairs are estimated to be around $300.

Police checking in on early morning noise in Bedford Hills

In response to a number of noise complaints from residents of the Adams Street and Railroad Avenue areas of Bedford Hills, police patrols have been taking place in on those roads. The officers are out to enforce town code that prohibits businesses from operating before 8 a.m.
