Harvey Students Volunteer in Katonah

A few dozens students from the Harvey School in Katonah got a lesson in volunteering Monday when they participated in Senior Class Day of Service.

The event placed students at different sites throughout the community--from the charity Friends of Karen in North Salem to the senior citizen center My Second Home in Mount Kisco to the Westchester Land Trust at Sugar Hill Farm in Bedford Hills--for a slew of projects.

Some students spruced up gardens while others crafted. One group cleared damage left by Hurricane Sandy.

"We all loved the idea," student Brent Feldman, a Waccabuc resident, said, recalling his initial reaction to Senior Service Day. "I thought it was a great way to give back after our school and community have done so much for us ... It's also just one last little bonding session for our class."
