What Questions Do You Have for Hayworth, Maloney on the Environment?

From local parks to the Hudson River, the residents of Putnam, Orange, Westchester and Dutchess counties care a lot about their local environment.

So, where do the congressional candidates hoping to represent them stand on issues like clean energy and natural resource protection? Come find out for yourself on Tuesday, Oct. 9 when the New York League of Conservation Voters Education Fund will host an environmental candidate forum for the 18th Congressional District.

“Many locals in Northern Westchester have chosen to live here specifically because of the access to open space, excellent parks and great natural resources,” said NYLCVEF spokesman Dan Hendrick. “Many decisions about our environment are made in Congress, and this forum will connect residents with the candidates hoping to represent them in Washington. Both candidates have confirmed they will attend and we are looking forward to a lively discussion on clean energy, climate change and much more.”

The forum is supported by the Woodard & Curran Foundation and will allow the two candidates running for the 18th District,  Nan Hayworth and Sean Patrick Maloney to discuss their platforms for clean energy and environmental protection. The newly drawn 18th Congressional District covers all of Putnam and Orange counties, six towns in northeastern Westchester County and the southeast corner of Dutchess County.

This forum is not a debate, but rather an opportunity for each candidate to outline their plans, and then take questions from a panel and the public. The panel will include representatives from NYLCVEF, Riverkeeper and Scenic Hudson. 

NYLCVEF's environmental candidate forum will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 9 from 7-9 p.m. at the Bedford Historical Society's Historical Hall (located across from the Village Green at 608 Old Post Road) in Bedford New York.
