Heat Wave Continues, Mountain Lion Spotted in Greenwich

Check out this event, the 5th annual John Jay Middle School "Rock for Relief" charity concert, organized by teachers Jesse Weiss and Craig Jettelson with support from the school and parents organization. The benefit concert features the vocal and instrumental talents of over 40 JJMS students along with Weiss and his band, Halfway to Sanity.

Seven local students were inducted into the National Technical Honor Society, which recognizes individuals who have demonstrated the ideals of honesty, service, leadership and skill development as well as high academic achievement among America’s future workforce. The students are, from Bedford Central: Alexander Mejia Cruz (Home Health Aide), Stephen Rivera (Law Enforcement), Kristin Zaccari (New Visions Education), William Di Rago (Sports Management). And from  Katonah-Lewisboro: Sabastian Colbert (Culinary Arts), Nicole Loscri (Fashion Design & Merchandising), Ivana Corrado (New Visions Education).

4. Mountain lion spotted in Greenwich

The Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Wednesday afternoon confirmed that the recent sightings of a large cat in Greenwich's Northwest corner is a mountain lion. The DEP said the Eastern mountain lion was declared extinct so this animal is likely to be one that was held in captivity.

5. Heat wave continues

Highs are expected to be in the mid-90s again today, with a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 3 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. The air quality alert continues,  with haze taking over the skies after 11 a.m. There's a slight chance of thunderstorms Thursday night and Friday.
