Fire department officials are hopeful that the 20 percent chance of rain will not dampen the marching spirit—but the parade goes on unless there is a threat of thunder and lighting.
This year, as in previous years, members of the 137-year-old department will be joined by members of more than 30 other area fire departments from Westchester County and Connecticut.

"We'll have members of the local ambulance corps, fire departments, marine color guard, drum corps and plenty of marching bands," said Bennet Schuberg,
Along with the county executive, Rob Astorino, Bedford Supervisor Lee Roberts, County Legislator Peter Harckham and Assemblyman Robert Castelli, a few thousand spectators are expected to stream into town for the parade, which has been a Katonah mainstay for over 75 years, said Schuberg.
Today the department is preparing the food that will be served in the main tent behind the fire house during the parade and carnival, which opens at 7 p.m.
The hours for the carnival are as follows:
- Wed. June 8 7 p.m. - 10 p.m
- Thur. June 9 and Fri. Jun 10 6 p.m. - 10 p.m.
- Sat. June 11 1 p.m. - 11 p.m.
Carnival goers can expect the usual thrills from such rides as the zero gravity ride, the Ali-baba and the superslide. Tamer options for the little ones include the merry-go-round and the ferris wheel.
