Hunt For Westchester Man Who Went Missing After NYE Party Pays Off

As drones and helicopters searched wooded areas for the partygoer who disappeared, the missing man was found in Connecticut.

NORTH SALEM, NY — The new year started with a happy ending, after a man who never made it home from a New Year's Eve party was found after a massive multi-agency search.

Shortly after 5 a.m. on New Year's Day, the Croton Falls Fire Department was dispatched, along with the North Salem Volunteer Ambulance Corps, to an address near the Ridgefield border for a reported missing person.

According to Halston Media, the man had left a New Year's Eve party at a Wallace Road home around 2 a.m. Chief Jeffery Daday told the media outlet that the man was on foot, didn't have his cell phone with him, and was possibly not wearing a jacket.

Car 2072 requested a drone from the Yorktown Heights Fire Department, while the New York State Police requested a drone from the Putnam County Sheriff's Office and the Department of Environmental Protection.

Car 2073, Engine 148, Rescue 28, Utility 64, and Utility 28 canvassed properties and buildings in the area as a Department of Environmental Protection helicopter searched overhead.

The Yorktown Heights Fire Department and the Putnam County Sheriff's Office drones searched large wooded areas for heat signals.

The missing man was eventually located in Connecticut and all agencies went back in service after three and a half hours.

The man was located in a store in Danbury, about six hours after disappearing, according to Halston Media.
