K-L Per Pupil Spending More Than Comparable Districts, Harvey Seniors Graduate Today

1. Katonah Lewisboro spends more to educate students than 5 comparable districts
At Thursday night's school board meeting, members of the K-L district's finance committee presented their analysis of data on Katonah Lewisboro district spending per pupil as compared to the Harrison, Scarsdale, Bedford, Byram Hills and Chappaqua school districts. K-L schools spends $27,197—which is $1,513, or 6 percent higher than 5 comparable districts. The biggest contributor to that difference is instruction and benefits and the second major factor is transportation costs. The districts spends lower than the average in general support, which includes adminstration and back office costs, and debt service. Check back with Patch for details on this story.

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff regarding the agency’s annual assessment of safety performance for the Indian Point nuclear power plant during 2010. The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. in Cortlandt Manor (click above link for details). Prior to the session’s conclusion, there will be an opportunity for members of the public to ask questions of the NRC staff regarding the plant’s performance, as well as the agency’s oversight of the facility. 5. So much for that tornado watch
The National Weather service issued a tornado watch yesterday and we saw nary a raindrop. Thursday's forecast is a delight: Sunny, with a high near 72 during the day, and for the evening, clear, with a low around 43. Friday also looks to be sunny, with a high near 77. Cross your fingers for the weekend which may have some clouds but should be dry for all of those great weekend outdoor events this time of year.
