The proposed budget for 2016-2017 for the Katonah Lewisboro School District will go down by 2.86 percent from the budget for 2015-2016, a reduction of $3,113,925.
The tax levy will be reduced by $2,980,194, which is less that the calculated New York State tax cap. This is about $250,000 less than the allowable limit. The total proposed budget is $105,617,795.
Much of the reduction in the budget can be attributed to final payments having been made by the district on debt issued in 1995, according to the district’s webpage. The hearing on the budget will be held at John Jay High School on May 5 at 7:30 p.m. The vote will be held May 17.
