Katonah Youths Charged with Marijuana Possession

A 16 year-old Katonah resident was arrested on High Street in Katonah after police officers found a group of teens smoking in a car at the Katonah Memorial Park, police said.
Officers conducting a routine check of the park found four youths sitting in a parked car at the park. They approached the car and smelled a strong odor of marijuana. Four residents between the ages of 16 and 20 were inside the car; one of them admitted to possessing the marijuana. He was arrested and released without bail.
Eat and run? Don't mind if we do
A larceny was reported at the Bedford Diner at 11 p.m. on June 2. Restaurant staff reported to police that a group of three men ate $71 worth of food and tried to pay the bill with gift cards. When the cards were denied, the group fled, leaving the check behind. Bedford Diner employees described the men as Hispanic in their 20s. As the men rushed outside, they covered up their license plate with what looked like a paper plate, the staff said.

The old mailbox switcheroo
On Jun 4 a larceny was reported on Old Katonah Drive. The resident said someone had stolen their mailbox and left a North Salem mailbox in its place. The North Salem resident was contacted and on June 6, that individual came to the police station with the Old Katonah Drive mailbox—the two were apparently the victims of a switched-mailboxes prank.
Driving arrests
Juan Ramirez Ramos was arrested on May 30 and charged with using a cell phone on a highway and second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a car. The 31 year old Danbury resident was stopped by police on Bedford Road for using a cel phone while driving. He was released on $100 cash bail pending a return to town court.

Carlos Perez-Melendez, 40, of Bedford Hills, was arrested on May 30 on South Church Street in Bedford Hills and charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and driving with a suspended registration.
Anthony Melton, 21, was arrested on June 4 and charged with third degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a car and failure to stop at a stop sign. The Bedford Hills resident was stopped on Rome Avenue at 10:20 p.m. for not making a full stop on Haines Road. An investigation showed a previous suspension. He was arrested and released without bail.
Fox Lane student arrested
A Mt. Kisco youth was arrested on May 31 after a follow up investigation to a report of a bag of marijuans found in a student locker at Fox Lane High School. According to police, an assitant principal there found the marijuana on May 24 and an investigation led to identifying the student and issuing a summons.
