Kimberly Gagnon Awarded Katonah Chamber Scholarship

The John Jay senior received the $1,000 award during the annual chamber luncheon this week.

The Katonah Chamber of Commerce awarded the Donald M. Foulke Memorial Scholarship award to Kimberly Gagnon at its annual luncheon held at the .

This long-standing award recognizes students who have demonstrated a genuine interest in the well-being of the Katonah community through volunteerism and extra-curricular activities.

Michael Berardino, a chamber member and State Farm insurance agent, presented the $1,000 award to Gagnon, a John Jay High School senior who plans to attend Washington University in St. Louis this fall and pursue studies in the school's Sam Fox School of Design and Visual Arts.

"I've lived in Katonah for 15 years now so I have always tried to do as much as I can for the Katonah community because it has always been so good to me," she said. 

Gagnon, a National Honor Society member, has volunteered with the Appalachian Service Project and served as the Katonah chapter's secretary;  she tutors English as a Second Language students at Katonah Elementary School and has volunteered for the Midnight Run through St. Mary's Church for the past three years. And, she finds the time to volunteer at the Katonah Village Library and the John Jay Homestead annual country fair.

Gagno said she's looking forward to serving the St. Louis community, but will be happy to "always return home."
