Letter: Todd Gabor for Town Justice
Howland Robinson writes in support of Todd Gabor's candidacy.

Dear Editor:
On Election Day, Bedford voters will vote for a new Town Justice. A persuasive-sounding postcard mailed to me by one candidate says that he has, “The legal experience we need for the court.” But he didn’t persuade me, because, of the two candidates, Todd Gabor has more and better legal experience needed by the attorneys and citizens involved in lawsuits, litigation, in Bedford’s Justice Court.
Would you choose a podiatrist for your heart surgery or a dentist to deliver your baby? Does personal charm or community involvement make up for a mistake due to inexperience by a doctor operating on your heart, or a Town Justice adjudicating your lawsuit? Attorneys who specialize in courtroom work are litigators. Their specialty is litigation. Their expertise includes a body of law with many specialized rules of evidence and court procedure. Gabor is the litigator in this race. His opponent is less qualified, notwithstanding other obvious virtues.
If I get an electric shock from touching my toaster, I need my electrician, not my carpenter. If a Justice mishandles your case in court, that’s a shock, too. Calling this election a race between two attorneys puts them on equal footing as to experience and hides Gabor’s edge. Gabor is the litigator. Gabor's the electrician. Gabor’s the more experienced horse in this race.
For Town Justice, Todd Gabor has more of the legal experience we need for Bedford’s Justice Court.
