Lipson Seeks State Assembly Seat: Patch Candidate Profile 2022

Not a politician, he seeks to serve as a check against the existing power structure.

(Gary Lipson for New York State Assembly)

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — In 2022's general election, residents of the Hudson Valley will be voting for state and local officials. In anticipation, Patch asked candidates in the contested races to answer questions about their campaigns and will be publishing candidate profiles before election day.

Gary Lipson is challenging state Assemblyman Chris Burdick for the 93rd District seat. The 93rd District currently runs vertically through eastern Westchester from the Putnam County border almost to the shore of the Long Island Sound.

This Assembly district map will be used for the 2022 primary & general elections but was ruled invalid on June 10, 2022 by the state's Appellate Court. The Assembly district map will be redrawn in time for the 2024 elections. (CUNY)

Lipson, a White Plains resident, veteran, entrepreneur and attorney, is running on the Republican and Conservative lines.

Bring balance, transparency, and accountability to NYS government

What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

The democrats hold all three levers of power in NY. So the short answer is that I am not a politician, and I would serve as a check against the existing power structure.

If you are challenging an incumbent, in what way has the current officeholder failed the community?

Nothing stands out in my opponent's performance. The main issue is that he is part of the existing power base and consistently votes with his cohorts.

What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?

I will push for term limits, education to reduce the need for abortions, expanding the charter school system, open up gas/fracking while continuing to explore alternate fuels, and promote a reduction in state regulations to improve the ease of doing business in the state.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

I have been a practicing attorney for 25+ years and managed large dollar transactions that included transnational negotiations and overseeing a professional staff. My career is focused on developing creative solutions that at least acknowledge everyone's issues.

What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?
