LWV Of North East Westchester Plans Local Candidate Forums In October

The League of Women Voters in-person and virtual forums will offer voters a chance to hear straight from the candidates.

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NY — Voting is one of our most important duties we can perform for the benefit of our neighbors, our families and ourselves. Taking the time to be an informed voter is equally important.

Fortunately, in our area, the League of Women Voters of North East Westchester makes it easy to learn about the races that matter to you, straight from the candidates themselves.

The non-partisan group has virtual and in-person candidate forums planned ahead of early voting which starts on Oct 28, in Westchester County.

A candidate forum with North Salem Town Board hopefuls Elizabeth Almeyda, Katherine Daniels and Brent Golisano will be held on Oct 4, at the Ruth Keeler Memorial Library, at 7 p.m.

A forum for Pound Ridge Town Supervisor candidates Kevin Hansan and John D McCown, as well as Pound Ridge Town Board candidates Alison Boak, Christopher Boy, Susan L. Lee, Cynthia L. Shereda and Namasha H. Schelling will be held virtually on Oct. 5, at 7 p.m. Voters can submit questions by email at Iwvnew@gmail.com and can register to watch live online here.

Pound Ridge residents have until 5 p.m. on Friday to submit questions for candidates. For a submission to be considered, it must include the questioner's name and address; these will not be read aloud but used to verify Pound Ridge residency. Questions on similar topics may be combined and moderators may not use all of the questions.

The LWVNEW will host a Lewisboro virtual candidate forum on Oct. 11, at 7 p.m. The forum will be conducted via Zoom webinar and feature the two candidates running for Lewisboro Town Supervisor, Tony Goncalves and Mary Ann Loustaunau, as well as the four candidates running for two seats on the Lewisboro Town Board: Alison Biddle, Stephen Lennox, Richard Sklarin and Dan Welsh. Lewisboro residents are encouraged to submit questions for the candidates to LWVNEW@gmail.com. For a submission to be considered, it must be received received by 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 6, and include the questioner's name and address (which will just be used to verify Lewisboro residency).

A Bedford virtual candidate forum will be held on Oct. 12, at 6:30 p.m. This forum will also be conducted via Zoom Webinar and feature the four candidates running for two seats on the Bedford Town Board: Bobbi Bittker, Thomas Catoliato, Mike Palladino and Don Scott. Bedford residents are encouraged to submit questions for the candidates to LWVNEW@gmail.com. For a submission to be considered, it must be received by 5 p.m. on Friday, October 6, and include the questioner's name and address (which will not be read aloud - just used to verify Bedford residency).
