Man Charged in Hit and Run Motor Scooter Accident
A Hopewell Junction man has been arrested for allegedly running down a Katonah resident with a motorized scooter.

Bedford police have charged a man in a hit and run crash that left a Katonah man with lacerations to his head and abrasions on his back.
A 19-year-old Hopewell Junction man was arrested on June 22 and charged with operating an unregistered, uninsured motor vehicle and leaving the scene of an accident.
Police said the crash happened on June 19 around 9:30 p.m. A 20-year-old man was walking his dog on Lakeside Avenue in Katonah when he was struck by an Aprilia motorized scooter driven by two males. He was knocked to the ground. The drivers of the scooter allegedly fled the scene but the victim was able to see the license plate number, said police.

The officers' investigation led them to a Katonah resident who owned the scooter. She said that her cousin and a friend had taken her scooter out the night of June 19 without her permission. Police identified the cousin as the 19-year-old from Hopewell Junction and charged him in the incident. He was released without bail pending an appearance in Bedford town court.
The 20-year-old was taken to Northern Westchester hospital and treated for minor injuries.
