1. Esmeralda Santiago at the Katonah Village Library

Speaking of local writers, Kim Kovach, author of children's book "Kitchawan Kenny," and an adult short story collection called "A Few Bad Decisions," is teaching a six-week writing workshop for adults on

We receive a ton (a ton!) of information via email every day about events and happenings around town. If you have an announcement you'd like to post—and you want it up now, here is what you would need to do:
- Go to the upper right hand corner of the Bedford-Katonah Patch home page.Create an account, if you haven't done so already.
- Click here to create a new announcement. Choose a category, from weddings and death notices, an all-around useful "social notes," to accomplishments, and more.
- Make sure to add the photos where it says "Choose file to upload."
Once you click "Post My Announcement" at the bottom, you will come to the page that features your announcement. Email me at lisab@patch.com with the URL to have your announcement featured on the homepage.
4. Last Day of FEMA Center
The town of Yorktown is reminding individuals, households and businessed to register with FEMA. Today will be the last day of operation of the Disaster Recovery Center, located at the Westchester County Center in White Plains. It will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
5. Avoid school tax penalty
Via the town of Bedford: School tax payments: The first half is due Sept. 30, without penalty. If you would like to pay your taxes in person at the Town House, the office hours are 8:30am – 4:30pm; Monday through Friday.
