So dig through those yarn stashes and consider donating a skein or more to this project—yarn needed before June 11.

4. Tornado victims need help

The American Red Cross has opened shelters for the victims of the deadly tornadoes that occurred over the weekend in the Midwest. If you are interested in making a donation to help with their efforts, visit www.redcross.org or call 1-800-RED-CROSS. You can also text the word “REDCROSS” to 90999 to make a $10 donation. Check back tomorrow for a report from the front lines from Carolyn Sherwin, a Bedford Hills resident and Red Cross volunteer who was deployed to Alabama last week.

5. Unseasonable warmth, more rain likely

Local lawns and forests are exploding with green after the steady rain that has fallen on the area. For those of us who are tired of rain (who isn't?) unfortunately, more is in the forecast, according to the National Weather Service. Tomorrow's high will be 82 degrees, but mostly cloudy with a 50 percent chance of rain. Tuesday night and Wednesday bring a chance of thundershowers with an overnight low of 59 and a high of 75 expected on Wednesday.
