New 'Third Thursday' Deals, Last Chance to Order Lobsters

And don't forget that parking permit renewal deadline.

1. Tomorrow is 'Third Thursday' in Katonah

The Katonah Chamber of Commerce has a list of participating stores in May's "Third Thursday," where store owners offer deals and other enticements to shoppers in downtown Katonah. Among this month's specials? Get two knives sharpened for free at Charles Department Store, 20 percent off jewelry at Enchantments and buy one cone, get one free at Noka Joe's. 2. Get out and take a walk

Wake up with the birds Thursday morning! Hone your birding skills and enjoy the sights and sounds of spring warblers and other songbirds. Bedford Audubon is hosting a 7:30 a.m. walk catered to novices and experienced birders alike. Bring binoculars. No registration necessary. Rain will cancel the walk. Level of difficulty: easy.

3. LobsterFest!

It's the 40th annual Lobsterfest at the , and Thursday, May 17 is the deadline for ordering your live or cooked lobsters for pick-up on May 19th between 1 - 6 p.m. at the church. Email your order to lobsters@poundridgecommunitychurch.org and include your name, address, phone, email and quantity of live ($14) or cooked ($15) lobsters. You can also order clams or mussels.

4. Buy books at Lewisboro book sale

The Lewisboro Library book sale began last weekend and goes through May 21. Tables are set up in the main area of the library where gently used hardcover and paperback books, audio books and DVDs are being sold.

5. Parking permit renewals due

Don't forget the deadline to renew resident permits and not lose preferred parking lot ranking is Friday June 15. Business parking permit applications have been mailed as of May 1.  All business parking permits are sold on a first come, first served basis.  The lottery for nonresident commuter parking permits will be announced in June.
