Parents: Girls Improving, Privacy Requested

Joseph and Eva Kelly provided an update on the girls condition in a statement released by the hospital.

The two girls who were stabbed Saturday night in Katonah are improving, say their doctors at the Westchester Medical Center, according to a statement given today by their parents, Joseph and Eva Kelly.

The girls, age 7 and 9, were attacked by their aunt, 39-year-old Lisa Turkki, while in her care, according to Bedford police.

Following surgeries and three days of hospital care, the girls are recovering well, say the Kellys.

We are grateful for the outpouring of support from everyone in the community.  The concern you've expressed for our children has been a tremendous source of inspiration.  The girls are in good condition and according to doctors at Maria Fareri Children's Hospital at Westchester Medical Center, their prognosis is positive.  As our children continue to recover, we ask that you honor our family's request for privacy so we can focus on their care.
