Parking Spot for Sale, Plans for the Holiday Weekend

1. Parking spot for sale
The Bedford Hills Free Library has come up with an unconventional way to raise funds. They've got a perfectly convenient commuter parking spot up for grabs for $1,250 per year. It's open to non-resident and just a 2 minute walk (no hills!) to the Bedford Hills Train Station. It's available beginning July 1st, 2011. 2. ShopRite food collection for Montrose VA

Through July 2, nine ShopRites in Westchetser County will be hosting a food drive to support the Montrose VA food pantry. On Saturday local veterans will be greeting shoppers at participating ShopRites—including Bedford Hills—and providing them with a menu of items needed on the selves of the pantry. ShopRite and veterans groups urge the public to participate in their effort to help service members and their families.

5. NYS Legislature gets a B from conservation group
Yesterday the New York League of Conservation Voter's Education Fund awarded the NYS Legislature an overall B for their 2011 results. NYLCVEF’s Legislative Progress Report is up from a “C” in 2010. The report tracks progress made on 17 legislative and budget priorities, on issues ranging from power plants and home energy efficiency upgrades, to wildlife habitat protection and mass transit funding.
