Pay Your County and Town Tax, Shop for Perennials and Bring an Umbrella

It's 5 things you need to know Thursday.

1. Just a few days left to pay County & Town tax

Since April 30 falls on Saturday this year, your last day to pay the 2011 County & Town tax is May 2, according to the tax receiver's office. Payments are accepted in the office at 321 Bedford Road, Bedford Hills, between the hours of 8:30am and 4:30pm. If you choose to mail your payment make sure that it is postmarked no later than May 2 to avoid penalties for late payment. You may also pay your taxes on-line by going to the town's website.

4. It's National Lawn and Garden month

The rule for getting those first annuals into pots is mother's day, but there's no reason perennials can't go in—time to stop in at one of the many wonderful local nurseries in the area and check out their spring selections. Don't forget you can search the Patch directory to find an address or a phone number or location near you.

5. Bring an umbrella

Hope you enjoyed yesterday's balmy sunshine because today there's little chance of spotting any rays. Rain is pretty much guaranteed for most of the day, according to the National Weather Service. There's a chance of showers and thunderstorms all day, with heavy rainfall expected at times. Morning commutes could be tricky with patchy fog. Friday should be better—part sun is predicted with highs near 65 degrees.
