Police: Speeding Driver Arrested for Drug Possession

New York State troopers provided the information below; it does not indicate a conviction.

A Connecticut man faces drug possession charges after police pulled him over for speeding, state troopers said Wednesday.

On Oct. 16, troopers allegedly clocked Newton Plunkett, 39, of Bristol, CT, driving 85 miles per hour on Interstate 684 in Bedford.

At about 9:30 p.m. police interviewed Plunkett and through their investigation found that he had approximately one pound of marijuana in his possession.

Plunkett was arraigned in the Town of Lewisboro Court and was taken into custody. He remains in the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in Bedford Court at 7 p.m. on Oct. 18.
