Police: Three Charged with DWI in Bedford

This information was provided by the Bedford Police Department and does not indicate a conviction.

Bedford police have arrested and charged two locals and one Ridgefield, CT resident with driving while intoxicated.

In the first incident, Santiago Arias-Alonzo, 35, of Bedford Hills, was arrested on Sept. 9 on Babbit Road in Bedford Hills. Police officers on patrol responded to a call regarding an erratic driver, and located Arias-Alonzo near Depot Plaza.

Officers said the driver allegedly had bloodshot, glassy eyes, and smelled of alcohol. Arias-Alonzo failed field sobriety tests, and refused to take a pre-screen "alka-sensor test," which provides officers with evidence of intoxication but is not admissible in court. While being processed at police headquarters, Arias-Alonzo took a breathalyzer test which revealed .12 BAC. He was charged with DWI, DWI over .08 BAC and released on $250 bail, pending an appearance in town court.

After investigating the incident, police found that Lopez-Amaya failed to stop at the flashing red signal on Route 172; his car struck a rock and a sign on the opposite side of the road.

Lopez-Amaya allegedly had blood-shot eyes, and admitted to police he had “just 5 beers.” He took a breathalyzer test which resulted in .13 BAC. He was charged with DWI, over .08 BAC, released on $250 bail pending an appearance in town court.

Sandra Mini, a 36-year-old Ridgefield was arrested on Bedford Road in Katonah. Officers were dispatched to I-684 after a report of an erratic driver.

While en route, the officers observed a car matching the description of the erratic driver headed South on Bedford Road. They stopped Mini, who allegedly had a strong smell of alcohol and red glassy eyes. She failed field sobriety tests and refused the alka-sensor test, according to police.

She was brought to police headquarters where she took a breathalyzer test resulting in .18 BAC, more than twice the legal limit. She was charged with aggravated DWI, and refusing a pre screen test, released on $200 bail pending an appearance in town court.
