Police Urge Residents to Lock Cars After Thefts
A rash of car thefts in unlocked cars parked outside prompted the warning.

Bedford police said that ten cases of larceny or attempted larceny took place during overnight hours in private driveways or onstreet parking on Harris Road and Cherry Street last week, prompting Bedford Police Lieutenant Jeffrey Dickan to remind locals to keep their cars locked.
"None of these thefts were break-ins, they were all in unlocked vehicles," said Dickan. "We want to remind people to secure their cars and don't leave valuables in them."
Small amounts of cash, an iPod and a cell phone were taken from cars between May 17 - 19. The investigation is ongoing.

Bedford Hills man threatens to kill youths
Patrick Mattoni, 51, was arrested on May 21 and charged with second-degree menacing at an apartment complex on Rome Avenue in Bedford Hills. Police responded to a call from a resident of the complex who said that a man was threatening a group of young people with a gun.

Upon their arrival, police found Mattoni, who allegedly appeared to be intoxicated, with a BB gun. The youths had allegedly damaged his car. The gun was recovered and Mattoni was released on $500 bail pending a court appearance.
Stamford man charged with DWI
Tomas Stepura, 27, was arrested on May 16 after being getting his Nissan Xterra stuck in the mud on private property off Upper Hook Road. The estate manager of the property reported the trespassers to police around 6:40 p.m. on May 16.
Stepura admitted to consuming beer and told police that he and his friends were trying to find a place to go four-wheeling. The officers reported that they smelled the odor of alcohol and conducted field sobriety tests, which Stepura allegedly failed. After returning to police headquarters, Stepura did a breathalyzer test which resulted in .09 BAC. He was charged with DWI and DWI over .08 BAC and released on $250 bail pending an appearance in town court.
Mt. Kisco man violates order of protection in Bedford
Police said Colum Francis Boylan, 47, was arrested on May 16 and charged with second degree criminal contempt/disobedience for disobeying a court ordered protection against his wife. His wife, a Brewster resident, said she received a text message from him while she was driving on Guard Hill Road in Bedford and reported it to Bedford police. and he had contact with her electronically which violated the order. This follows a previous incident at the Fox Lane campus on May 2 when Boylan was charged with second-degree harassment after allegedly threatening his wife at the school.
Shenorock woman charged with drug possession after jewelry theft at Kohl's
Nicole Lappe, 27, was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance on May 16 after she allegedly took $2,650 in jewelry from the Bedford Hills department store. Lappe was employed by the store when store security officers said they observed her removing the jewelry from a case. She was held at the store for pickup by Bedford police. When they brought her to headquarters, they found what appeared to bags of heroin on her person, which led to the added drug charges, said police. She was relesaed on $500 bail pending a town court appearance.
