Polls Open, Bring Your Umbrellas

1. Polls are open

Voters in school districts throughout the state will have their say at the polls today. Read our last-minute voter's guides before heading to your local elementary school to vote: , where polls are open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., and , where polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 9 p.m.

2. Improving nutrition in schools

The Junior League of Westchester County are hosting a legislative breakfast on Friday to discuss the fact that New York State lags behind other states in addressing the obesity crisis. and some amazing statistics on school food. It's this Friday from 9am - 11am. 

3. Lions Club Car Show rescheduled for Sunday

In case you didn't get my tweet yesterday (what? you don't follow twitter/bedkatonahpatch?) Bedford Hills Lions Club Car Show is using its raindate of Sun. May 22, 10am-4pm, due to the inclement weather last weekend.

4. Station Bakery is open!

Patch stopped by the new bakery and gelateria (mmm....gelato...) in Bedford Hills yesterday. Check back mid-day for photos, an interview with Nino Camaj and a melt-in-your-mouth description of all the goodies he's offering.

5. Flood watch in effect

Is it summer yet? As if the long winter wasn't enough, this spring seems like it can't be any cooler or wetter. Get set for more: there's a flood watch for Northern Westchester from 6 a.m. Tuesday through late Wednesday night. According to the National Weather Service, a stationary storm is causing the nearly constant moisture through the middle of this week. Three to four inches of rain is expected to fall in the region on Tuesday, so pack the umbrellas!
