1. Shout out to Andrea Mishel Alarcon for her service award

This Fox Lane student was awarded the 2010-2011 Mary Hughes Sakraida Award for Community Service by the Junior League of Northern Westchester. This is on top of being named the Boys & Girls Club Youth of the Year last year, a member of the President’s Junior Leadership Council of Northern Westchester Hospital, a member of the Minority Student Achievement Network, and an active member of her church. Congratulations to you!

2. You know it's summer when Second Saturdays start

The holds Second Saturdays as an opportunity for the community to enjoy an outdoor, art-themed garden party. The first Second Saturday of the season will be held on June 11 from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. with the theme Wear EYE or Nothing at All.

4. Rotary scholarships awarded

Congratulations also go out to John Jay High School Emily F. Lopkin and  Alessandra C. Angelino, recipients of two of the scholarships awarded by the Northeast Westchester Rotary Club scholarship, which goes to high school students who best exemplify the concept of service, the core of the Rotary philosophy. The awards were given on Monday night.

5. It's National Chocolate Ice Cream Day

Really. Somewhere, someone made this up. Don't know about you, but I do not need more incentive to get out and enjoy the sweet stuff. To our list of , we'll add the gelato served at the new in Bedford Hills.
