"A vibrant town thrives on its ability to retain long standing businesses and to attract exciting new ones," Supervisor Ellen Calves said. "When I look at the list of businesses taking part in Sizzlin’ Thursdays, I am delighted to see both kinds, and everything in between. There is so much going on in Bedford Hills, and these events provide the opportunity for everyone to enjoy what this hamlet has to offer."

Each Sizzlin’ Thursdays event will feature activities for the entire family. The July 13 event will include a yoga demonstration at the Station House, courtesy of Viale Yoga, along with art, legos and face painting, a sustainable living presentation by Bedford2030, and more.

In addition, Destination 39.3 will launch Bedford Backstage, a live music summer series that will take place at 5 p.m. at the Bedford Hills Train Station on each of the three Sizzlin’ Thursdays. Attendees will be able to grab some food and drinks at local businesses and set up a chair in the train station lot to listen to the music of popular local bands.

"The Bedford Economic Alliance is all about economic health and vibrancy through collaboration among stakeholders, which include residents, organizations and businesses," Calves explained. "It is such a perfect partnership to have Destination 39.3 collaborating with Sizzlin’ Thursdays to launch its Bedford Backstage series. Nothing says summer like outdoor music and family-friendly activities, and we can’t wait for residents of Bedford and neighboring towns to discover great deals from our businesses while enjoying a festive day in town."

The Sizzlin' Thursdays program arrives shortly after the recent announcement that the Town of Bedford had been awarded a Downtown Improvement Grant "DIG" through the Westchester County Economic Development Program. The DIG pilot program was specifically developed to provide economic development support to stimulate revitalization of downtown communities. Bedford will receive a comprehensive market analysis, a custom-designed strategic economic growth plan, and six months of hands-on technical support and assistance, and up to $250,000 support for implementation efforts. The town said that the Bedford DIG application was submitted in support of the economic revitalization plans imagined for Bedford Hills.

"It is an exciting time for Bedford Hills," the supervisor said. "In recent years, we have seen renovations to the Bedford Hills Train Station and the Bedford Hills Community House, a new sewer project, road paving, new sidewalks, new trees, banners and planters. The revitalization efforts were expanded with the hiring of Bedford Business Promoter Laurie Hiliard, who has been a vital force in the creation of the Bedford Economic Alliance and the launch of Sizzlin' Thursdays."
