Speed Traps Result in 53 Tickets

State police were out in Somers and Lewisboro yesterday.

State police issued 53 tickets in the town of Somers and town of Lewisboro on Saturday.

Between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m., troopers conducted a speed enforcement initative, focusing on Route 100 in Somers and Route 35 in Lewisboro.  The number of tickets issued were the majority they could have issued for speeding during the initiative.

The tickets given help troopers remind drivers that speeding can cause car accidents leading to deaths, injuries and property damage, police say, a message that is driven home through their vehicle and traffic enforcement programs.
