St. Patrick's Carnival 2012 Starts Tuesday

and Raffle comes to northern Westchester the week after Mother’s Day, continuing a three-decade’s-old tradition of outdoor family entertainment.

This favorite weeklong event, now in it’s 36th year, is exciting for kids of all ages. Because it is the first big carnival of the season, it has become one of the most popular events of its kind, drawing families from Putnam and nearby Fairfield, Conn., as well as northern Westchester.

This year’s carnival opens the night of Tuesday May 15 and runs through the late afternoon of Sunday May 20 when the raffle for a 2012 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible or $25,000 cash will be conducted.

Still run entirely by volunteers from the church and the parochial school, the St. Patrick’s Carnival and Raffle raises money for the educational and charitable ministries of the parish.

Admission is always free. Free parking with shuttle bus service is available from three nearby and convenient locations.

In addition to arcade-style games and whirls on the best rides in the region provided by Stewart Entertainment, the home-cooked food and the huge turn-out each night make the Carnival the place to be all week. Over the weekend, one bracelet buys kids unlimited rides from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

So come check out what everyone will be talking about on the big green lawn of St. Patrick’s School at Route 22 and Greenwich Road.

The popular new car raffle gives you the opportunity to win Camaro or $25,000. Sales are limited to 1,000 tickets to improve your chance of winning. Tickets are $100 and may be bought at the Carnival up until the drawing at 5 p.m. Sunday May 15.

*the Food Tent is open 30 minutes prior to opening each date

Free parking is available at the Bedford Village Elementary School on Court Road, the Bedford Town Park on Greenwich Road and St. Patrick’s Church on the Village Green; all three lots are walking distance to the Carnival.
