Art Competition, Clean Up Days, Store Move
And now you can take a virtual tour of the K-L school district's aging facilities in a video posted online.

1. Congressional art competition
The annual congressional "Artistic Discovery" art competition encourages high school students in New York’s 19th Congressional District to submit entries. The winning entry will be displayed as part of a year-long national exhibition in the United States Capitol. The winning piece will be selected by an independent panel of judges from the local community. The winning artist and one guardian will be presented with two round-trip tickets to Washington, D.C., to attend the unveiling reception at the U.S. Capitol as well as a $1,500 per year scholarship to an art and design college, should the winner apply and be accepted. 2. Bedford school board meets

The meeting will take place at the Fox Lane Middle School theatre. The disrict website does not yet list a final time and the agenda wasn't posted as of Tuesday evening - we'll update you when we have the final information.

4. Clean up days are coming
The annual Chowder & Marching clean up days are coming, when 20 families in Bedford coordinate cleanup of miles of Bedford roadways and pickups of attic treasures and the sale of said treasures in one of the most-anticipated tag sales of the year. Mark your calendars for May 3-5 and check back with Patch for details on the weekend, which includes clean up efforts coordinated by neighborhood organizations in all three hamlets.
5. Video explaining K-L district's capital improvements
A short video that details the district's proposed plans for facility improvements has been posted to the K-L district homepage.ust over 8 minutes, the video shows images of the district's aging facilities including 50-year-old boilers and roofs in need of repair and details the recommendation for a "no-tax impact" proposition authorizing the district to spend $5.9 million for the capital improvements.
