Ultimate Frisbee Team Takes States, School Boards Meet

1. Warm weather makes us want to eat ice cream all of the time.

2. John Jay's Ultimate Frisbee team wins state championship

We learned a thing or two about this sport, which combines aspects of football and basketball, according to team co-captain, Richard Lipari. Check back later today for an interview with this week's Whiz Kids, the 2011 state ultimate champs.

3. K-L school board meets: per-pupil cost analysis

A much anticipated report from the district's finance committee will be discussed tonight: the comparative financial analysis of the per pupil costs of the Katonah-Lewisboro, Harrison, Bedford, Scarsdale, Byram Hills and Chappaqua School Districts. Also on the agenda are proposed changes to the student code of conduct, middle school highlights, and a presentation on the recently held Race to Nowhere discussion. The meeting starts at 7:30 p.m. in the JJHS library.

4. Bedford school board meets

Bedford Central school board also meets tonight at 8 p.m. at the Fox Lane Middle School Theatre. An agenda is not yet posted to the website.

5. Weekend planning yet? Explore-a-thon Saturday

In an effort to raise awareness (and funds) for the hoped-for-building of a new Westchester Children's Museum, organizers are inviting children and families to enjoy an interactive day of play, experimentation and discovery at the annual Westchester Children’s Museum Explore-a-thon from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Sunday, June 5.
